conveyances nearby: bicycle and auto. Only tourists now go by these conveyances. My Japanese friend
who shot this photo said that her great-grandmother owned a black-lacquer, Heian period design rickshaw
of the type in the first Japanese conveyance image; and that her grandmother owned a Meiji style one for her private transportation.
