Comic-Con 2015: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Panel

Most people are probably still recovering from the mind-blowing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justicepanel at yesterday’s Q&A session – especially considering the explosive new feature-length trailer that launched.

Since director and visionary Zack Snyder starting releasing snippets of the upcoming DC Universe blockbuster, people have wondered what the catalyst behind Batman’s hatred for Superman – though people have enjoyed speculating their own take on it, the exclusive new trailer finally explains it all.

Stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot and Jeremy Irons took to the stage at the packed-out Q&A panel in San Diego to discuss all the juicy details that fans have been dying to know. Instead of telling the intricate details of the movies plot, Zack Snyder and the cast thought it be be more fitting to show it.

Check out the exclusive feature-length trailer below:

The most import piece of information we’ve been lacking has always the reason why Ben Affleck’s Batman developed such a hatred for Henry Cavill’s Superman – and the answer is a lot simpler than first thought.

Turns out Superman’s city-destroying escapades with General Zod in Man of Steel (2013) resulting in the destruction of one of Wayne Industries skyscrapers, killing innocent employees as Bruce Wayne himself could only look on in horror.

Batman v Superman will be all about retribution – good verses evil, but who’s on which side?

Along with the developments regarding Batman and Superman, the trailer also gave us a first look at Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luther, who is clearly more of a sociopath is this envisioning than those that have gone before. Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman character also featured during the trailer, though her story and involvement in the saga is still unknown – we do however know that she will play a crucial hand in Bruce Wayne’s story.

If we took anything away from yesterday’s Q&A panel it’s that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is going to take superhero blockbusters to a whole new level. See it in cinemas worldwide from March 25, 2016.

Comic-Con 2015: The Walking Dead (TV) Panel

It’s one of the most loved shows on TV, generating high viewing numbers and boasting a hefty fan base of loyal fans – this evident when the cast of the hit zombie show The Walking Dead took to the stage during Comic Con to promote the upcoming sixth season.

In attendance at the sold out Q&A on Friday (July 10) were stars Andrew Lincoln, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride and Lauren Cohan to name just a few – fans didn’t waste any time grilling the group on everything they want and expect to see in the new season.

Despite the upcoming season looking set to be the most hard-hitting yet, stars of the show were rather coy about giving too much away – though they were more than happy to answer fan question regarding their on-screen alter-ego’s.

McBride, who plays abused housewife turned badass zombie killer Carol, was bombarded with questions regarding her unorthodox nature of killing both zombie’s and humans. Smiling broadly, McBride was quick to jump to Carol’s defence, telling eager fans that her character wasn’t as bad as she may seem:

[pull_quote_center]Everything is fueled by the loss of people; that’s why she’s doing what she’s doing… She can’t stand around and watch people die. She’s ready to pay the price or go to hell to try to help… and do whatever she can…[/pull_quote_center]

One added addition to the panel this year was that of Brit actor Lennie James, who you starred in the very first episode as Morgan, only to then mysteriously disappear, until he appeared towards the end of season five.

Well good news for fans is that Morgan is here to stay, for now, and will feature heavily in the new season – something pointed out in the exclusive trailer below:

Though careful not to give anything crucial away, Lennie James did hint to fans that we may finally know what Morgan has been up to all this time, especially considering the added skills he seems to have picked up since the first season.

Michael Cudlitz, who plays short-tempered anti-hero Abraham also hinted during the Q&A that the upcoming season could see his most prominent moment yet… Though what that means is anyone’s guess. The same can be said for Norman Reebus, who plays fan-favourite Daryl – the actor descibed who is characters place with the new community of Alexandria would be tested this season.

Character development – that seems to be the message the stars wanted to get across to fans this year – not surprising that back story will feature heavily considering the spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead premiere this year. The new series which debuted at this years Comic Con will be set during the first weeks of the outbreak – finally giving fans a glimpse of that really happened.

Season six of The Walking Dead kicks off October 12 on Fox | You can also catch Fear the Walking Dead when it’s debuts in September on new UK channel AMC Global.

DC Comics and Warner Bros. Set To Shine At This Years Comic-Con

Over the last couple of years it’s been pretty clear that studio giant Marvel has ruled the roost at the annual Comic-Con event in San Diego – not surprising considering the frequency at which their blockbusters are released.

This year however may see a long-overdue shift as DC Comics and Warner Bros. Studios look set to finally headline the convention that will be completely void of any Marvel representation, despite the upcoming blockbuster release of Captain America: Civil War.

Zack Snyder’s eagerly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will take centre stage when Comic-Con kicks off on July 9, with the franchises stars Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Jason Mamoa (Aquaman) all scheduled to be in attendance.

DC’s new franchise heavyweight won’t be the only blockbuster in attendance as its spin-off Suicide Squad will also be paneling at the event – its stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Joel Kinnaman will be representing the project and answer those burning questions ahead of its intended August 5, 2016 release date.

It’s clear that this year will all about DC and not its rival Marvel – there will however be one heavyweight looking to steal at least some of the limelight, and what an opponent it is. Visionary filmmaker J.J. Abrams will be showcasing none other than Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, a new chapter in the epic franchise that sees the return of original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fischer and Mark Hamill.

It’s one of the most anticipated events in the Comic-Con calendar and will likely make a dent in DC’s chances for complete supremacy – you can catch Star Wars in cinemas worldwide this Christmas.

Stay tuned for all the latest and most exclusive news and videos from Comic-Con 2015, kicking off in San Diego, California on July 9.

Ryan Gosling to star in Disney’s Haunted Mansion remake

He’s an actor who’s been away from the spotlight for some time since becoming a father, but now Ryan Gosling is back on the map and set to star in Disney’s family remake of The Haunted Mansion.

Spearheaded by Hellboy creator Guillermo deal Toro, the movie remake of Disneyland’s popular theme park ride has been in the works for over five years since being unveiled at Comic-Con in July 2010.

Gosling, who is a former Disney Mouseketeer along with other celebrities such as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, has been attached to the project for a number of years, and having just become a family man himself with fiancé Eva Mendes, could now be ready to take on the family comedy.

The previous remake of the famous theme park ride, A Haunted Manion, was released back in 2003 and starred Eddie Murphy as a real estate agent who takes him family on a trip to value a mysterious mansion, only to discover sinister things afoot when they become trapped in the house. The family film grossed $140 million when it hit cinemas twelve years ago, and studio bosses will be hoping Gosling’s star power will help them eclipse this when the new film is released sometime in the near future.

For those of you Ryan Gosling fans, he can be seen next in Terrence Malik’s star-studded drama Weightless, which also stars Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender, Cate Blanchett and Natalie Portman – the film is due for release this year.

George Clooney Sorry For Batman Role

It’s very rare that a Hollywood superstar will apologize for one of their flopped movies, but ever the true gentleman, Academy-Award-winning actor and director, George Clooney, recently apologized to fans around the world for his portrayal of the famous Caped Crusader.

The surprise admission came during this year’s New York Comic-Con (NYCC) event, where Clooney was promoting his upcoming Fantasy epic, Tomorrowland. During the press conference for Disney‘s new blockbuster, Clooney fielded questions from fans and the press, many of which were keen to discuss his notorious performance as Batman in Joel Schumacher‘s 1997 box-office flop, Batman & Robin.

Known to many as one of the worst films ever made, and certainly the worst superhero film ever made, the fall-out from this film has always followed George Clooney around for most of his career. But ever the professional that he is, he took the opportunity at Comic-Con to put it to bed once and for all and to apologize to fans.

Clooney also laughed that “since I did Batman, I’ve been de-invited from Comic-Con”, although with his presence at this year’s event, it’s clear that people are ready for let bygones be bygones and forgive one of Hollywood’s most talented and loved actors.

Batman & Robin also starred Hollywood heavyweights Arnold Schwarzenegger and Uma Thurman, along with Chris O’Donnell and Alicia Silverstone. The film cost an estimated £125 million to make and only managed to generate $130 million at the world-wide box-office, making it one of the biggest flops of all time.
